So I've caught a few episodes of North Woods Law on Animal Planet, show is about Game Wardens in Maine, what the hell is up with the 1 deer per hunter per year restriction? Is the deer population there that limited?

People go to where the deer are... and if you have large cities around, well, can't hunt in the city...... ok, at least, not legally.....

In Iowa, in the capitol they PAY certain well qualified hunters to use bow and arrow to rid the town of deer, no limits. LOL

I don't know about Maine, but here in Colorado the deer populations are down in most of the state. Not here -- in my neck of the woods we've got so many deer that the roads are paved in fur. Some folks have tried using deer for hood ornaments but the installation procedure is usually destructive.

I live out in the sticks here..... and I have deer walking up my driveway fairly regularly. (perhaps they know I am not a hunter?) But, the folks that are out truck-hunting... usually bring me one or two a season..... I think they were trying out the installation process for the 'deer hood ornament', and failed.....

Heyyou,
I guess we are not in the zone for them to read it without driving by. I have no idea how the damn thing works I just know I get bent over each winter.
Oldguy,
I live at the end of the road and now don't have any neighbors since the two houses close to me burnt down. The house across from me was sold last year to some weekenders so they aren't there very often. I can run my snowblower at midnight if I want to. Now that the wife is gone I can be lazy and just drive out the driveway of snowblow it first. With 35" tires I ain't going to get stuck. We pay someone to plow the roads but he doesn't do a very good job of it. I use to shovel my driveway but one year it snowed 6-10" every 12 hours for a week straight and I was like I can't keep doing this so I bought a used Troybuilt blower. It ain't pretty but it has electric start and it throws the snow so that is all I care about.

I've got so many wildlife pic's it is crazy. If I ever move from here it will be one of the big things I will miss. Quail in the spring, summer & fall. Deer in the fall, winter & spring. Turkeys in the fall & spring. Plus all the other wildlife like raccoons, squirrels, rabbits, owls, birds & who knows what else. And the occasional elk thrown in now and then.

so here in NH, and ME, they have 3 deer hunting seasons... bow, muzzleloader, and rifle. all between the beginning of september, and ending in december.

youre allowed 1 buck, and 1 doe per season, so thats actually 6 deer per year. hunt in maine, and new hampshire, you get 12 deer. that is if you can find em...

also, in NH they have whats called the apprentice hunting program. any person that hasnt taken the hunters safety course can hunt for the entire year, any season they want. but theyre limited to once per lifetime. only downside(or upside?) is you have to hunt with an experienced hunter...

happy hunting!!
