The Charger sure is pretty, but I WANT this PowerWagon!!
One of my brother in laws has an International 4x4 that looks like this one

his isn't quite as nice as this one but he uses it to haul his antique John Deere pulling tractor.

so if you go here and look at payload ratings. Some of the 1500s aka half tons are rated near and even over 2000 lbs.
and some of the 3/4 tons are rated at over 3000. Which is a ton and a half.
Are these numbers in kilograms? What am i missing here. Everything else is standard units.
And i only gained about a 1000 pounds of trailer towing weight from my axle and suspension swap.
Bummer
back to pay load. For example. My 1500 4x4 quad cab short bed was rated at 1380.
and now if my truck was from the factory as a 2500 its rated at 3080. Thats over doubling my payload capacity.
What am i missing here or Dodge's just really that tough

You didn't post a link.
Some of the newer trucks have large payloads and each brand keeps trying to beat the other. Heck look at what a Dodge or Ford can now tow compared to your truck. It is just crazy. They aren't 1/2 tons or 3/4 tons anymore by how much they can haul.

This is for second gen.
And yes Wildman you're right.
At work we have a 2014 f250 2wd. Rated at 12,500 pounds towing capacity. 6.2 v8 gas.
The second gen Cummins was rated at around 13k. So gassers now do what our diesels or big block V10 did.
The hemi In the 1500 is rated to tow near or over 10k. If I'm not mistaken with the right package.
Its crazy. You jump in a new truck and it just doesn't feel the same as our old schoolt trucks do. But they get the job done and they do it better. Technology I suppose.

newer trucks have stronger frames than the older ones...
know those frame flex tests that dodge and chevy like to show off... don't put our trucks on one of those...
we would twist like the ford
they more recently started fully boxing the frames rather than continue to run the c channel frames like ford is still doing...
dodge and chevy both have boxed frames now which drastically increases the strength of the frames and helps to increase payload capacity.
Our frames are weak and flimsy in comparison to the new trucks.

If you look closely at the frames on the 2nd gen rams, they are not one piece, at least mine isn't. Back by the fuel tank there is a joint.
Newer frames also have better metallurgy.
IMO the newer trucks ratings are due to better powertrains and largely warring between the Big Three. Everyone claims "best in class (over 8500GVWR)" ratings. But yet not all of them have higher numbers than their competitors in the same class (class 4). So it's just a bunch of BS marketing hype IMO. I am sure that they can handle whatever weight they claim but you get my point it's largely all about advertising.
