Gas prices will stop rising when we can become energy independent and stop relying on middle east oil. Uunder the current administration, that aint happening.
All of there past rationalizations for high gas prices have turned out to be nothing but BS.

Problem is this will never happen. Its almost like the Canadian government (and American too) are trying to cause an economic crisis.Originally Posted by Arde

Sadly Gary-L's picture doesn't really have any relevance. The U.S. doesn't not control gas prices, it doesn't matter how much oil we produce and use until we get out of the global oil business and produce by and use strictly and only in the U.S.

Same goes for Canada. Canada has some of the richest oil deposits in the World in Alberta. But instead of using the oil for Canada we ship it elsewhere. They say if Canada used its own oil gas prices would be below $.50/litre which is like $1.50/gallon for my American friends. But instead we are paying $1.50 a litre which is like $5 a gallon. I personally think North America (US and Canada) should produce its own oil and use strictly in North America.Originally Posted by stewie01

Ran my second 5k of the year. Have not been able to train much lately with so much crap going on the last few months, trip to Chicago for my nephews graduation, my daughters graduation, family in town, etc. I finished just at 33 mins which is about 3-4 mins off my normal pace. Still not bad for a 50 year old with two bad knees. I'll start back regular running this week as things have finally settled down. Usually try to get a 2-3 mile run in every day.

Yeah, so long as we are involved in the global oil market, we are going to be paying thru the nose for gas. Doesn't matter who is in the oval office.
Now, we could stabilize gas prices just by taking it BACK off the commodities market. Its the speculators that drive the 20 cents an hour price changes.

I never could run very far unless I was really scared or something, 5K you say. My metric to US translator tells me that is 3.1 miles.
Its about 3 and a half miles from my place to the grocery store down town and I walk that fairly often just because I can.
I used to live closer to 8 miles from the grocery store when I was in my 20's. I got laid off one fall and I'd walk that distance every day just for something to do.
I'd usually get a pack of smokes or a gallon of milk or something else I really didn't need.

I may have a job this winter driving transport on the ice roads way up in Northern Canada. 4 months and you leave with $80,000.
