Technically you are right they are magazines, the M1 Garand uses what is called a stripper clip. Semi automatic pistols use magazines. The most commonly accepted name for a magazine is clip, but you can go ahead and be nitpicky if you want.

My point exactly.

Huh, I always thought that my M1 Garand took En Bloc clips because the rounds are loaded doublestacked in the clip, whereas my old Mosin Nagant takes a stripper clip, because the rounds are in a single file strip.

Well my 6.5 Carcano used a 7 roundstripper clip too. Yes it was a rifle you could really buy out of the back of Field and Stream for something like $39.00 in the day. I didn't get mine that way my uncle had been in WWII and got his in North Africa from some trader and some how managed to smuggle it home.

When he died my dad got it and I got it when dad died.

It was really a pretty decent rifle.Since I was learning to be a gun smith I milled grooves for a scope mount on mine. I could get a decent group at 100 yards but I might as well just throw the bullets any farther than that. Would get almost as good a group that way but had a better chance of hitting a target.

I found an old japanese world war 2 service rifle in an attic i was cleaning out once. I kept it obviously.

It still had the royal crown/empire thing on it. Supposedly it is worth a lil bit of money becuase of that. But I've never checked that out.

That's a heavy sun of a gun let me tell you.

Its just a bolt action rifle.

I had a neighbor who wanted a high dollar pistol and offered me a WWII Japanese sniper rifle for $115 to raise cash. I took him up on it. It is a heavy rifle with flip up sites and has the original "Mum" insignia on the barrel. Supposedly rifles confiscated in that conflict had them destroyed or at least the "Mum" insignia removed. Some soldier got this one out unscathed. I have research somewhere with an estimated book value carrying the insignia at $750. The rounds are Swiss made and look equivalent to my 70 cal. deer rifle. It has about an 8 round clip/magazine. K.

70 cal? Deer? Is this an attempt to have no venison to eat at all?
