I am just curious to see what generation of ram trucks are the most liked on this forum. I personally like the 2nd Gen trucks the best. I think they look the best and are better suited for a hard days work. What do you guys think? .....Sorry, forgot to add 4th Gen trucks to the title.

Nothing goes in the general Ram section, not even a question like this. One of the main reasons for this is that no one will see it to answer your thread, as very few visit the general Ram section.

First & Second gens are TRUCKS and they look the best. They also have solid axle front end. K.

 

I've always liked the 2nd Gen Rams, and when I was looking for a truck, I went with a 2nd Gen Ram. My vote is for 2nd Gen.

I've heard multiple people refer to the 2nd Gen Ram as a Real Truck, or an Old School Truck, and not the 3rd and 4th. Could you tell me what some of the reasons are as to why the 2nd Gen is a Real Truck? I'm curious as to why, and I'm glad I went with a 2nd Gen.

IMO, 2nd gen Rams were still trucks, solid axle front end, etc. 3rd and 4th they tried to make them more "car like" in terms of ride, comfort and accessories. Got away from the "tough truck" image.

 

People call the older trucks "real trucks" because they were made in the wonderful time before the tree-hugging ****** in washington started sticking their fingers into every little aspect of the automotive market (and putting that filthy ethanol into our gasoline).

The older dodges are just rough, tough, old school machines with good ol fashioned pushrod V8s who will chug through anything and everything you throw at them...they're also built like tanks (weighing in at around 6000 lbs i believe) because vehicle weight wasn't as much of a concern. Things like this are the exact reason I chose to get an older truck...they are easier to understand, easier to work on, parts are cheaper and they can take a beating.

jkeaton and CSDavies26 took the words right out of my mouth. Also note the poll percentage of 58% for 2nd gens. I've done the Hemi thing. Me personally, I'll run and maintain a second gen pickup. Now my wife likes a car/truck.

So I will clarify the wife's decision, she wants a Hemi. I will sell her current ride and she can use her own $ to buy the thing above the cost of what her current one brings. I'm a 2nd gen guy. K.

 

my rank goes 2nd gen, 4th gen, 3rd gen then 1st. As for 3rd and 4th gens, they still have the solid front axle, just not in half tons. I wish our 2nd gens had the power that the hemi's do today.

 

Friend of mine has a '10 2500, it's IFS...... Nice comfy truck though. Pulls like there is nothing behind it. I've pulled a 1600 pound tractor, and a 3400 pound car behind it for a bunch of miles. Couldn't tell either one was there.
