Default Shorties

Hey guys I found a pair of shorties on craigslist and just wanted some opinions on whether they're worth it or not. You can see them here http://florencesc.craigslist.org/pts/4457636468.html. Since they're not ceramic coated I figured I would use some VHT ceramic spray and bake them in the oven if I did get them. I will also be gutting my cat after I get my inspection so I'm looking forward to finally clearing up my exhaust.

Look like cheap stainless headers. I would check around, and see what new prices are like.

Just shorties won't help as much as you would like. Biggest restriction in your exhaust is where the two pipes come into the front of the cat. Replacing that piece with the jegs or summit off-road y-pipe would get you more, and would nicely complement the headers too.

I asked the guy and he said they were his brothers and he got them from dtr racing. I will be getting the off road y pipe in the future to compliment headers. I figured I would start with headers then work my way back. Would it just be better to hold out and get long tubes and the y pipe at the same time?

They look cheapies to me. You can brand new cheapies for 200. Not really worth it to me.

Ok thanks guys. I thought they looked a bit cheap by looking at the welds and what not. The guys also seems desperate to get rid of them so I'll probably pass unless he lets them go for like $40.

Haha yea that's what I was thinking. I also found a pair of 360 small block mopar hooker long tube headers for $100. Are these any good? They seem to have some aging but nothing a bit of scrubbing and a ceramic coat cant help.

Are they for the magnum engine? Or the LA series engine? If the latter, not sure they will fit.

I text the guy to make sure and he said they would fit and he will be sending me a picture of the model number after work so that I can be 100% positive. Has anyone ever had these or know whether they're good or not?

Im pretty sure LA motor headers dont fit on magnums but I could be wrong.

I wouldnt do longtubes unless youve got a ton of other mods planned, they will open the exhaust up to much for a stockish motor and you will lose bottom end.
