Default E-fan

I've read around, gaining some info on this topic. This summer before college I'd like to run an electric fan. I've seen numerous times that people go look for Taurus electric fans. I've also seen people complaining that they're fans run with the a/c compressor....
1.Do I run my fan with a switch and watch my temp gauge a lot or go with a t. stat switch?
2.Has anybody who's done this made their own shrouds or reused the old one?
3.Pusher or puller fan, which works better?

I have two threads on e-fans saved, but I'd like a little more info on this before diving head on into this project. Thanks for any help.

You definetly want a t stat switch. Unless you want to constantly cut your fans on and off manually.

That Taurus fan is cheap and in junkyards everywhere. Lots of people seem to modify the existing shroud to fit the one fan.

Personally I would go dual fans for redundancy.

You want your fan to come on with ac becuase of the extra drag the compressor will cause.

With dual fans you can have one fan cut on with ac automatically and probabbky get away with other o me only coming on sparingly. Thus saving more draw from the alt and thus more power and mileage sapping peformence

I'm planning to ditch my dual fans for the Grand Cherokee fan. Its 19" and doesn't draw nearly as many amps as the Taurus and Lincoln fans. I plan to use our stock shroud and seal it in for maximum efficiency.

I've used Areostar fans before. Pulled crazy amps.
Fan should always come on with A/C. Your choice though I geuss.
Thermostat switched is required. I ran an adjustable one. I coild set the temperature I wanted the fans to come on at.
Plus a manual over ride on and a full off.
But one fan should be triggered with the A/C automatically.
Be easy wiring.

Ok. Then no prob with the a/c and fan. I'll measure my fan and see what I can find at our local JY. Does anybody have a recommened switch for the t. stat? Hayden seems to be popular but people say they burn out on them not too long down the road...How would you guys hook up the switch to the t. stat so the fan turns on when needed?

Why is the e-fan needed? I drove all winter last year without my clutch fan installed to see if it made a difference in power, and it made zero difference. Nice to have the extra room under the hood tho and looks cleaner and easier to reach front of motor for working on it. But I don't know that the effort of installing the electrical with the extra current draw is a fair trade off.

For myself I like them. But I could concede its all a matter of opinions.
Are they better and more efficient? Not for 99.9% of us.
My Mud runner yes. My daily driver? Probably not.

Well I'm doing this to clear some room up in the engine bay and curious to see how the e. fans work vs regular fan. Plus I don't mind a little modernization either.

A puller works better than a pusher. Especially with a shroud.

The difference between a clutch fan and an e-fan is very noticeable. You will mostly notice the difference right off the line. In my opinion switching to an e-fan setup is worth the money.
