Tire Sizes
My truck is sitting on 285/70/17 right now, wanting to go wider on the tires because of the simple fact that i like to mud and right now the tires just arent slinging enough along the sides. Thinking of going to 315/70/17. Will those fit with them being a little wider or will I need wider rims? I dont know much about tire and rim sizes and what will fit on what, so i definitely need some help with this. Trying to save up and get them before the RYC event on my birthday if they fit.
Need a lot more information before we can help you. What size lift you running? Generally want a 5" lift for 35" tires which 315/70 is close to. What wheels are you running? You'll want a 9" wide wheel ideally, though you can get away with an 8" wide wheel. What gear ratio do your diffs have? 4.56 is what you want for 35's, anything less is just not sufficient in my opinion. Some run them with 4.10 gears but I hated that combo, did not have the best power, lugged in over drive and revved way to high out of over drive. Also are you willing to deal with replacing different front end parts annually if youre a 1500? 1500 Front axles chew through front end parts with that size.
You might look into a 305/65/17 size tire, same height you have now but wider.

Its just the sport package which i heard has a two inch lift on it, i havnt put one on myself... yet lol. It has stock wheels on it, not sure how wide those are... ive been looking and it seems to have a couple of different answers, they look like 8". Gears are 3.55, just wanted to go a little wider without having to spend a ton of money, my buddy says go with wheel spacers but i heard those can cause a lot of problems down the road.
