Anbody ever replaceded the detachable face on a head unit? I have alpine cde-12SXM and the face has been flashing on and off and been unresponsive. However it never affected the radio playing or sound quality or even could tell. Just flashing and stuff.

Now it won't even cut on. I've verifried all the wiring is still okay. Does it sound like I could buy a replcament face for it and be ok? 60 bucks vs a brand new head unit is nice.

But I've never done this before. Thoughts?

Never just changed the face on a head unit, this is what I just put in. $90 off Amazon has bluetooth, usb, and aux. For another $15 or so you can get one with a CD player too.

Have you checked/cleaned the contacts on the faceplate?... could just be a ****ty connection due to dirt, or misalignment.
I've had brand new units act up... wiggle the faceplate and it came good.

I did it in a car I bought that the face plate was missing. It had a real nice Pioneer stereo in it so I took it down to the local audio shop and they ordered me a new face plate. It was that easy.

I'll second the idea of cleaning the contacts. Take a Q-tip and some rubbing alcohol to the contacts on the face plate and the unit itself.

I bought a junk box of electronic things at a hamfest some years ago. In the box was a fairly decent Pioneer cassette/CD player that was missing the face plate.

A few years later I found one on eBay for not much money, as I recall the shipping was more than the faceplate. For all I know the dude offering the faceplate was the original owner of the radio.

Once it got here I put the 'new' faceplate on and the thing fired right up. I put it in our Caviler shortly before we sold it. The new owner said the radio was what clinched the sale for him.

Well I didn't get anything done to the engine today but I did get my new welding cart put together. On top of that I got the my new welder on it and the plasma cutter too.

The reason I picked this cart is because it has, 5 hooks for cables.

3 on the back plus a bracket to hold the mig gun.

And then 2 more on the end below the handle.

It also has compartments on the door for your smaller welding parts.

And the top drawer is divided up for more small parts. I plan on using the door for mig and tig parts and the drawer for plasma cutter parts.

And then on top of that it has space for two tanks instead of just one. This way I'll have a tank for mig and one for tig on the cart.

Overall I am very happy with the cart and it is made very well. I got it off Amazon but it comes from Northern Tools.
