Yep, I'm thinking level kit in the front. Looks to me like a level will sit on that bed rail with the bubble real close to the middle. Stock sure wouldn't.

That's about the stance my old '98 1500 4x4 had after I installed a level kit and before I added 3" body lift...

I'm going by the space between front fender top of tire, and rear fender top of tire. Looks like it has a a leveling kit to me.

Gas truck I assume? There is a leveling kit in the front for sure. If 3.55 gears tow with OD off and you should rev around 2500 RPM which should get you in the power band and tow that just fine. If you are still unhappy decrease tire size to 33's or stock.

Thank you guys for your input. The truck is gas and I pull the travel I do not use overdrive. In the pic the tires are 315/70/17's. I guess my biggest concern is that the truck seems to labor too much while pulling and that's why I was asking about the tire size and lowering. I know that the transmissions are prone to fail and I really want to not push my luck.

My understanding is that to go with tires that big you need to change out the gears. That could be your problem. Down sizing to the OEM recommended tire size is your best bet.
