My dad had a 94 which used to be my favorite. Had the 350 5 spd now had up over 200k and still ran perfect when he sold it. he's got an 03 2500hd with the 6.0 auto. But the trucks a wreck. Chevy screwed it up. The body is collapsing on it. I much prefer the dodge as it seems to like brute strength

 

My chevy friends were shocked when I told them that cause my durango had them off the line every time. I think the rams are much heavier than the chevy trucks though too. Honestly I think the 5.9 was underrated on power at 245hp.
Funny thing is all the cars I have owned were GM powered by 3.8l's. Love that motor and the 350 is a good one as well.

 

I think age and maturity level have a lot to do with it. Young guys always getting into pissing matches over anything.

I am just an old fogey, and have zero brand loyalty. When I bought my truck, I was actually looking for a chevy..... but, they were very few, and even further between, and everyone wanted brand-new pricing for 15 year old trucks with 200K miles on them...... The dodge was at a lot that I stopped at to look at the chevy...... but, the guy that ran the place wanted to keep the chevy, and the dodge had what I wanted/needed, and was priced more reasonably. (and I found out why AFTER I had bought it......) Sure, I probably paid too much for it, but, only by a few hundred, instead of the several thousand it would have been on any of the chevys I looked at..

That said, I don't have all that much invested in the dodge, and it does exactly what I want it to. Moves me around, RELIABLY, if not the most economically. If I had it to do again, I will would have bought the truck, but, I think I would have offered him less for it. (and probably still got it.)

 

I have no brand loyalty either. I drive what I drive. Had them all and no one was any better than the other.

 

i think the 5.9s were also a little underrated for power, of course tho when they got flashed that really killed them. I agree to an extent with the age and maturity, but theres still older guys out there worse then some of the younger guys... Like a cousin of mine, huge loyal chevy guy, thinks there the best. Im not brand loyal per se, i jus prefer my dodge and the 360 compared to a chevy and the 350. Not saying the 350 is a bad engine cause its not, i think the 360 and 350 are both very stout platforms. They both of course have there weak points too but nothing is perfect.

 

Completely agree with it having to be an age and maturity thing. Im pretty young myself, (just turned 22 a few months ago) and I see it all the time. Personally I'm a dodge man but can still appreciate a nice truck regardless of brand. But these 16-18 year olds all love to get in tape measure contests with each other over trucks. These are the same kids that here in NC are trying to sell there 94 z71 with some lift keys and bald tires with loud exhaust and every bit of 250,000 miles for like 14 grand.

 

Personally I think Cummins owners are some of the biggest douches around.

 

Most definitely, I was a sheetz in Lebanon, pa and me and my buddy were about to leave and we passed this 21-23 year old with a big jacked up 3500 mega cab short bed srw, it was nice lookin but it would come no surprise as daddy bought it and he was using the windshield squeegee to clean off his head lights (they weren't dirty in the first place) and my buddy said nice truck to him and he turned at looked at him hes like thanks nicer then that pile of ****...talking about my buddys chevy, he had a 95 2500 single cab long bed 350 5 speed, was mildly built. Was a nice truck. None the less, if you hangout at sheetz and drive a cummins your a douche, never seen so many douche's in one place

 

One of the best, if not the best, vehicle my mother owned after my father died was a 1998, actually I think it was a 1997, Ford F250 with the big V8, bought with 188,000+ on the clock.

The only issue we ever had was the front wheel bearings had to be replaced, other than that it was an extremely reliable vehicle, but gasoline was crazy high at the time so that is why we had to downgrade to a car.

But having said that, besides blowing reverse, I've not had to do much to the Ram outside of usual stuff and of course the plenum.

It's bumpy, squeaky (damn ball joints), steering wanders, and has *******ly no dash but I never have to worry about getting from point A to B with it...
