Default What is with Chevy guys

I'm not saying all of them but I think out of the truck world Chevy guys can be the most arrogant. My Chevy can beat your truck in a race, my truck is tougher than yours, mine can haul more blah blah blah. Has anyone else dealt with this? They think the 5.7 is the best engine ever and always talk crap about the 5.9 magnum. I also always hear that they beat 5.9s in races all the time but they never compare each when towing. I've driven both when towing, I feel the 5.9 has lower grunt in my opinion. The Chevy was a 98 with the 3.42 rear 4x4, ext cab k1500 and I'm comparing it to my 2500 with the 5.9 v8 which only has 3.55 gears. I towed 6000 lbs with both and just felt my 5.9 pulls so much better taking off, going to pass, going up a hill the 5.9 didn't have to seem to have to work as hard as the 5.7. I'm not sure, jus looking for people with experience.

True Ford guys can be too, and some dodge guys but not as bad as the Ford or Chevy guys. It's funny cause they always go straight to saying dodge transmissions are junk which I beg to differ because they aren't. I always school the Chevy and Ford guys on em. The bad thing with dodge transmissions is they shift into od to soon which I'm sure you've noticed, as soon as 30 mph, to much shifting. That's why I lock out my od when I'm under 40 mph. My 46re in my 2500 was rebuilt at 134k but the guy towed a boat around 70% of the time. The 42re in my Dakota has 260k and has never been rebuilt and I have but that transmission through some stuff, I've jus changed the fluid and that's it. The magnum series engines I think are great engines.

They were built solely as truck motors for pulling. They are strong torquey motors. My 318 had a tranny at around 100k I think according to previous owner. Runs perfect minus the plenum issue but heck. It's 19 years old

I'm a Ford and Dodge guy, so don't paint us all with the same brush!

In my experience Ford guys are the worst at first but easy to beat in an argument. Chevy guys start off not as bad but can't admit defeat. I totally agree with they're only comeback is about transmissions. I grew up in a GM family and most of my friends are GM and the rest are Ford. I'm the only mopar guy. Funny thing is when anyone gets stuck the dodge gets called first cause a Ford guy will never ask a GM and a GM guy will never ask a Ford. Funny thing is that they have all considered buying a Ram at some point, I even have one of my Ford friends almost converted.

My father likes Chevy. I used to like Chevy. So I'm not blaming everyone. Just tends to be a lot of hardcore believers

I still like the 90's chevys (we have one with 320k on it and another with 255k). My dads 03 2500hd has earned my respect but it gets old the debating.

Yes the magnum engines do have great torque and a lot of that is thanks to the kegger but they also suffer up top because of it but its not like youll be running 5k rpm all the time, its a truck not a race car haha. Im not labeling all ford and chevy guys the same cause theres dodge guys out there that can be just as bad. i honestly have respect for all 3, they all have there strong points and weak points, i also think they can learn something from eachother in my opinion. I have also seen my share of high mileage trucks from all 3, i usually look at the odometers in them at the junkyards haha

Also as far as the 46re and 4l60e, first gear in the 4l60 is 3.06 vs the 46re which is 2.45, i think that helps give the chevy a good jump off the line when accelerating.
