Yep you have to bend it. Guys who have put on a round open element filter done the same. Either bend it yourself or buy the s bolt. http://www.jegs.com/i/Spectre/865/4218/10002/-1

Received my S bolt from Jegs during the week and was out playing with it some more.

Gah it's an extremely tight install. I'm having trouble getting it to fit with my wiring harness in the way...no slack on that thing. It's interfereing with the back of the air box housing and forcing it to sit crooked on the throttle body. It's unacceptable that wayt and needs to be solved before I can drive it.

The good news is the designer at Ram-Air is real friendly and cool guy. We've been talking it over on the phone trying to figure out how to solve it. As we all know these were transition years for these beasts and apparently there are many possible variations on how the wiring harness gets routed and also the air conditioner pump line routing.

He is going to send me a drop plate at no extra cost which lowers the whole assembly 1/4" from where it is now. I think that will allow it to clear the wiring harness but will likely cause the box to interfere with the AC pump. Not a problem for me since I'll just clearance the housing to clear the pump by removing fiberglass and then patch as necessary to seal it back up.

At this point I'm going all in. I really want to find a way to make it work.

I am finding it to be more of a pain in the *** than expected though so this may be a factor for others who may be inclined to try this part. However I'm told mine is being more of a pain than many of them he's encountered.

Pretty sure I remember seeing a couple guys moved the harness down lower, iirc it was on this forum even.

You are an f'n genius bro!. If I pull all the clips holding it to the firewall I think I can reroute it t below and behind this air box. Thank you for posting that.

I was trying to get it all over the top and it was not working out for me.

I have a 14x3 and even that's tight with the wiring harness right in the way. Have to put the filter in at an angle.

routing it underneath looks like it's going to work .Dragging my tail this morning going out there to button it up since it's raining. I'll buck up here in a bit probably.

Default Update

Lets just say it's been rainy out here and I hate working out in it sometimes when I didn't need the truck for anythiing but I finally had it in and have driven it around a little bit now.

Bearing in mind I have no dyno or drag racing results to back up my impressions. I also haven't had enough time on it yet to tryand grab any kind of mpg's or anything.

Boom this thing is badass. Like, maybe worth my whole high flow exhaust to try and compare it to something else I've installed that helped.

A major headache to install in ways they don't mention anywhere on the website or in the installation instructions.

Maybe the stock engines don't need a higher flow air intakes than the stock intake but mine sure liked it.

It's probably true this thing is also just letting a few of my other bolt ons do their thing better too.

In my opinion the gains are clearly due to the much higher flow air filter and air intake tract being used. I can't say for certain I've necessarily felt the ram air affect but I haven't really had it out on the highway much yet. It sounds exactly like the factory intake, ie I can barely hear any noise at all from the intake.

The first thing I noticed is it couldn't even stay running until I reset the computer. Then it took like 5 warm ups before it finally started getting rich enough. But holy hell look the F out once it sarts dialing in. This thing fattened it up big time everywhere in the RPM range. It even gave me way more usable on the low and high rpm extremes.

It was a pain in the neck to install it. I had to reroute my wiring harness. I had to reroute one of my heater core hoses. The rubber dual rubber intake hoses you see in the pic don't come close to fitting over the intake scoops with the hose clamps they sent in the kit. I had to come up with an alternate method to put those together and ended up using duct tape which seems to nbe working spectacularly in this app. I still need to put one of those breathers filters on the valve cover. Worst of all I have to completely relocate my windshield washer tank and pump which will force me to purchase and install and aftermarket solution of some sort.

In the end I'd say it's totally worth the money if you are willing to put up with the installation headaches...probably pretty easily the best bang for buck mod I have yet and best performance gains too I'd say. It wasn't small either. It's really surprising.

With the fixed plenum, big throttle body, and free flowing exhaust, I can see how that may give you some good improvement. I am sure it compliments your others mods VERY nicely. Looks good too.

E-fans as well?
