I'm having a hard time getting to where I need to be on my scanner. Which of the two would cause it to drop out of gear? Or could both do it? I'm asking this because I can buy whichever one is doing this. I don't have much cash at the moment. asked for a refund for these parts, but I must return them. But I need my truck for work and such.

Maybe you can help me with this for now. While I was doing the R&R of my tranny, I left the negative cable off for about a week and half. So it dumped all of the active memory and is running like crap. One of the times I started it up, it died with a backfire and blew out my CAT. I reset the PCM to the factory defaults. But I still can't get it to run right. So I'm thinking my CAT is clogging up my exhaust and causing it to run bad now. Does this sound right to you? I can't afford a new one right now. So I'm thinking of cutting a panel out of the side of it and remove the ceramic pieces. Then I replace the panel and tape it down with metal tape. Might this fix the problem? Or will it cause other problems?
I appreciate your help!
Dale

oh the horror of this, I've never had problems like this! And I repair everything needed to be done. From brakes to replacing the heads. From wiring in components to doing the body work. So this sucks!

Remove the front O2 sensor, and see if the engine runs any better, if it does, that's a sure sign the cat is plugging up.

On the governor stuff, unfortunately, it could be either....... given that they are a pain to get to, I would do both of 'em.... Or, barring that, start with the pressure sensor, and also install a drain plug.

Thanks I'll give that a shot. I already put a drain plug in. I hate to pull the pan just to change the fluid. Thanks again I'll get back to you.

The cat was plugged, so I removed the ceramics and patched it. I also had them send new parts. Now everything is working like it should. I appreciate your help! Dale

How did you exactly do this? Did you just cut a square out of the cat, pound out the material then glue it back together?

I cut a hole through the shield then the cat. I used a punch and hammer to break the ceramics up small enough to pull out. I then formed a piece of sheet metal the size and shape I wanted. Then I drilled holes in the cat and sheet metal in the corners. I applied a general muffler patch/epoxy, I then screwed it down on the cat and let it dry. I've also made a patch for the heat shield, but I have not applied it yet. Since the ceramics are not in there it doesn't get as hot. So I'm in no rush.
