Transmission Shifting Problems
I'm having a hard time getting to where I need to be on my scanner. Which of the two would cause it to drop out of gear? Or could both do it? I'm asking this because I can buy whichever one is doing this. I don't have much cash at the moment. asked for a refund for these parts, but I must return them. But I need my truck for work and such.
Maybe you can help me with this for now. While I was doing the R&R of my tranny, I left the negative cable off for about a week and half. So it dumped all of the active memory and is running like crap. One of the times I started it up, it died with a backfire and blew out my CAT. I reset the PCM to the factory defaults. But I still can't get it to run right. So I'm thinking my CAT is clogging up my exhaust and causing it to run bad now. Does this sound right to you? I can't afford a new one right now. So I'm thinking of cutting a panel out of the side of it and remove the ceramic pieces. Then I replace the panel and tape it down with metal tape. Might this fix the problem? Or will it cause other problems?
I appreciate your help!

Remove the front O2 sensor, and see if the engine runs any better, if it does, that's a sure sign the cat is plugging up.
On the governor stuff, unfortunately, it could be either....... given that they are a pain to get to, I would do both of 'em.... Or, barring that, start with the pressure sensor, and also install a drain plug.

How did you exactly do this? Did you just cut a square out of the cat, pound out the material then glue it back together?
I cut a hole through the shield then the cat. I used a punch and hammer to break the ceramics up small enough to pull out. I then formed a piece of sheet metal the size and shape I wanted. Then I drilled holes in the cat and sheet metal in the corners. I applied a general muffler patch/epoxy, I then screwed it down on the cat and let it dry. I've also made a patch for the heat shield, but I have not applied it yet. Since the ceramics are not in there it doesn't get as hot. So I'm in no rush.
