Alright time to get to work on cleaning.

I'll also check around for an oil pressure sensor, I was wondering what it was and it does look busted.

I also have a new o2 sensor for when I finish this job and I've read about testing and possibly replacing the cat.

Another option (additional option?) would be to pull the oil drain plug, and use kerosene to clean out the rest of the crap, and just flush it out of the engine. Pulling the oil pan may not be a bad idea either...... Keep in mind, it is going to look very similar under the valve covers.....

I picked up a used intake to modify/prep for the replacement..... took it to the machine shop to have it hot-tanked. That cleaned it up REAL nice.

Plenum plate and intake manifold are cleaned.

Fuel injector o-rings replaced.

The bolt in the intake is snapped flush to the head and I have a hole drilled through it and an easy-out biting in that I'm slowly working (it's not moving yet)

Right now I'm trying to remove the harmonic balance nut (1-1'4"). I bent two screwdrivers so far and I'm using a tie strap against the frame and cover to try and get it off... The evidence is pointing towards needing an air gun for a truck of this year.

Yeah, impact wrench took it right off for me..... Maybe you can rent an electric impact, if you don't have air?

Use chemicals on the broken bolt. PB Blaster is my personal favorite.

Here's how I rigged it up initially, ended up changing that top hook and hooking it entirely to the bottom. Took it off with a breaker bar and ratchet:

Plenum plate cleaned up pretty well:

Timing chain slack:

Bolt has been soaking and I'll keep spraying it and trying to ease it out, that bolt going on marks the end of the repair and reassembly starts - I'm not in a huge hurry to finish it up so it'll come out eventually.

I'll add some more pics tomorrow of the new timing chain, timing cover, and add more as I go. Thanks for your help and suggestions!

The bolt is pretty frozen in there. I've drilled it out almost entirely and I'm either going to tap the hole or just use a nut and bolt as a replacement.

Distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and coil are all swapped out.

Timing chain is on and the cover is torqued. Water pump is replaced and torqued.

Transmission fluid is draining right now.

I'm heading out to get ATF+4 and looking for an inch-lb torque wrench or else I'll order one online.

My shipment including the oil sender switch, front and rear diff pinion seals, rear driveshaft u-joint at the transfer case, transfer saver, and two front u-joints will be in tomorrow so I should have it all wrapped up this week.

Then I need to swap the pre-cat o2 and look at high-flow cats.

Any input is appreciated! Pics to come when I have some more time.

Not sure if Harbor Freight is a thing in Canada but that is where I got my inch pound torque wrench for a reasonable price.

I don't mind ordering from US stores as I'm in a border town right now but I found one on Amazon.ca for $40, and I'll get it here for Friday for $60 tax included. I'm sure I'll get good use out of it for vehicles, bikes, etc.

Pic update:

New timing chain

New coil

Old coil...

What a piece!

Not to sure how accurate a HF torque wrench would be.

I got a 40 dollar one off of amazon... should do the trick.

Sadly enough the replacement plenum bolts are the same size as the OEM bolts so I have to shave them all down I guess..
