Yeah I believe maintenance, or the lack there of, and the way the truck is used has a lot to do with the wear and tear of a trans. I had the same type of question a while back. The 46re's are all the same through out the 2nd gen. Electronics had some differences tho. HeyYou answered me with this-
"Only difference on the trans is the governor pressure sensor. Those changed in the 01 model year, as did the retainer clip. Governor solenoid may be different as well. Best to replace them as a set"
