They also went to the electronic gear indicator at the point, I think.... Mine is still pretty analog. (early 98 sport, with single bulb headlamps.)
You are talking about the PRND12?

Digital prnd didn't appear until 3rd gen. They did change the odometer to green LCD from black backlit. Are we moving to differences in 98 and 99? There's quite a few.

Yep didn't get a digital one until 2002. A company makes a dash kit to make all the gauges LED and use bars instead of needless

You are right about the grill and bumper I put them on because I didn't like the old sport bumper and Grill that it had on it. It is 100% stock other than those two items and wheels. The badges were missing when I got it. As far as it being a Holy Grail from what I understand it definitely is one. Because it has a 12 valve in a quad cab 4x4 with a 99 to 02 interior and the fact that it's an auto or manual is just personal preference.

With a build date of 9/97, it most certainly was an early 98 but the new Sports weren't built for another year as 99 models. So not rare and not stock. And it has 3rd gen wheels. Notice the cummins decal is missing from the door? Why would someone remove that but keep the white Sport decal on the hood? They wouldn't. It's been majorly repaired or altered. But still beautiful.

A true Holy Grail is the earliest 98 models with the new interior but carry over 12v. And it should have the Quad Cab option and manual to be actually special. There's an early 98 auto for sale near me and the price is only $10k so not that amazing.

What is this, a test?? Why didn't you tell us that in the first place. Yes, okay you have the Grail. Here's your award. Now lift it 6" and put black 22's on it like the kids do. I really don't care.
Im kidding 😂 That is a sweet truck and the updated sport is probably the best looking ram ever. Good job. I still say keep it stockish so you can roll it in parades in twenty years.

This is the first time I have ever posted on a form and I am still trying to figure out how to use it. I would rather die then lift it and put 22s on it.! I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth fixing up overall it is in good condition but the paint has lots of Knicks and dings the previous owner used it as a construction truck and beat the hell out of the bed.I had always heard about these trucks and had never seen one in person until I accidentally stumbled across this one so I had to go for it even though I had no need for a truck. I kind of want to do a frame-up restoration but not sure if the value of these trucks will go up over the next 50 years.

You will never get your money back from a the restoration. While the 12 valves are highly prized, and hold their value fairly well, they still haven't gotten to the point where value is going up...... Besides, you spend that kind of money on it, and you aren't going to want to drive it. You may *think* you have no need for a truck, but, having one, you will find all sorts of uses for it. (as will your friends.....) So, if you feel like fixing it up, go for it, but, don't do it as an 'investment', as you will never get more for it, than you have into it.

Yeah, that seems to be the way it is. Guess I'd like to learn more about them. I'd like to know how many were made. I'd like to know if it would ruin the stock appeal if I were to turn it up a little because it is a pig! Part of me wonders if they are so rare that you have to be an extreme enthusiast to even know about them. There seems to be a lack of information about them out there and half of that seems to be misinformation.
