Dont forget the opening at the bottom of the fender where the water drains out. Could be getting in from there. Did you know they make a cabin filter for the second gens?

Cabin Filter ... Since the truck is 24 years old I'm afraid to find out what could possibly be lurking inside the dash, but getting a cabin filter seems like a good idea. I would definitely have to do some cleaning, as that may be why the heat in the truck is minimal. I'll have to look into this more when the spring rolls in. Right now it's been really cold and we are expecting more snow and ice.

As an update, I did catch 2 critters so far. Hopefully there isn't any more and then I can start to apply all that I've read here to keep them out. I'm really tired of turning the heat on and having the inside of the truck looking like a snow globe, then cleaning it all up and having it happen all over again a couple days later.

My two cents on the best trap,

got the lil buggers here and there is an electronic trap sold at Home Depot it’s around 50 bucks. Uses 4 C size battery’s

put peanut butter at the end of the trap. Turn it on and go get the body out the next morning

some traps even hook to your WiFi and will text you when the trap goes off!!

killed 27 rats so far this year on the same 4 battery’s!!

clean neat and no body parts to clean up

got two of the traps under my motorhome, got a few rats with those too!!

just don’t get the traps wet!!

I looked at homedepot and they had a few of them. Which one did you get?

I just installed two in the cab I ordered from amazon, which had good reviews. This one was the Loraffe - (description) 2 Pack Under Hood Animal Repeller Battery Operated Rodent Repellent Ultrasonic Rat Deterrent Keep Mice Away from Car with Ultrasounds and LED Strobe Lights Vehicle Pest Control Rodent Defense.

Hope they work, except I won't know unless no more nesting comes out of my vents. As of now I caught 2 mice but there must be little ones still there since I see tiny droppings and the traps in a couple days are empty as the critters are eating the peanut butter and not setting them off. One thing that scares me now is that there is a lot of tiny gray foam pieces shooting out of the vents which is probably the foam around the heat/cooling vent doors in the dash.

I wouldn't mind also getting the homedepot ones as I really need to stop the destruction of my truck. We had a dusting last night and all around the front of my truck and into the field across the street were rodent foot prints so it looks like they are getting in someplace in the front.

The traps I got , kill the rats With a taser shock of high voltage

they don’t repell, they kill!!

good traps, It’s like a tunnel the rats have to walk into, then when they get to the bait, it’s zaps them!! They will be standing on two metal floor pieces. High tech and work great!!

Home Depot has quite a few of them and I would like to look into one that has proven works. Which one did you get and do you have a link to the unit on their site?

I've never seen a repellent device that really works. Electrocution will work but with my shaky hands, I'd probably zap myself. I have seen a 5 gallon bucket half full of water with a ramp for easy access for meece's. Peanut butter for bait and a roller they climb on then roll off and they fall in and can't get out.

The name of the traps I have are “Vector”

yea for a rat trap they are expensive but they work, easy to clean up, I use skippy super chunk peanut butter. Put a little on your finger and scrape it off in one of the holes

i killed 3 rats with the same bit of peanut butter. There is a LED light on top that blinks when the trap has gone off. Just shut the switch off, slide the rat into the trash can , set the trap back and switch it on.

I asked around on another site I visit as there was a discussion there a couple of years ago. One fellow made a quick sand trap for rats. A 5 gallon bucket 1/2 full of water and the top covered with foam pellts. Bait with some peanut butter and it will scarf the rats down fast. Just be sure to clean it regularly before it stinks. Another guy posted this video.
