I'm on 4 wooded acres, with an old shed that isn't tight enough to keep the mice out. Once the weather changes and goes cold, we get them inside that shed. I just put those traps down and dump the dead ones until they are all gone, then I'm good all winter. Someday I'll fix that shed, but its easy enough to knock down the population with these traps and allow me to procrastinate working on that shed.
Yeah, I got 6 traps coming in tomorrow similar to the ones you mention with the bait cup. Looks like a great design. Yesterday I did catch another in a trap that would only work upside down, go figure. The other trap that I put tooth picks in, well the peanut butter was eaten and the toothpicks were on the back seat. I think this critter is playing with me ... lol

Yesterday morning I did install 2 cameras set to notify me of any movement just so I know what I'm dealing with and was able to watch the live cam. Nothing. No movement at all. Going out this morning to double check. I'm hoping that the last one caught yesterday was the end of the critters. If that be the case, I have 4 oz. of peppermint oil to put in various places in the cab and then I'll move towards closing up whatever I can find open outside the truck that they may have used as an entrance.

When I finally get rid of them and prevent their return, I'll be doing the dance

Whoa, that's a BIG one you got there ... lol
Mine were only a few inches long, thank goodness. But I am making progress ,,,

That wasn't a mouse. It was a possum. I had two of them in my attic. I got up one morning to find a 1/2 a loaf of stale bread pulled out of the trash and across the kitchen. As for the toothpicks, you have to wedge them in tight so the mice can't pull them out. That's what releases the spring trap.

So as an update, I haven't have any rodents in the truck for about 2, maybe 3 days and the vents aren't shooting out anything other than just a few pieces of whatever was in there. I also have been checking under the hood every couple days and that has been clean. But, this morning the entire top of the engine was filled with the same white looking foam stuff I've been finding in the vents. I have no idea what this stuff is or where they've been getting it from, but I spent the earlier part f the morning vacuuming out what I can and using my pressure tank to blow out the rest. As of now, all is clean and I think they're gone for now. Gonna take the time now so spread some peppermint essential oil around inside and out and start to close up entrance points as I find them. All-in-all, I think we're making progress.

Glad to hear. Just keep it up, unfortunately you will always have problems with rodents unless you keep thinning the herd!!

or find a way to park it inside........it’s just a nice engine bay makes a perfect place to sleep up and out of the elements and away from predators

keep us informed!!

So I just ordered one of those rolling log mouse trap thingies for a 5-gallon bucket from Amazon. The mice decided to make a home in the insulating thing under the hood of my truck. And they used the dryer sheets I put under the hood to repel them to help make their little loft home. It should arrive in a few days - I'll post how well it works. I'll also try it out in the garage - I'm sure there are some in there too.

My wife won't like it because I'll be drowning them, but I don't want my truck's wiring chewed up (so far so good). They're getting under her Subaru's hood too. I cleaned out a mouse nest in her car's air intake box the other day.

So I've had this rolling log mouse-trap thing a month now - no mice caught yet.

I know that there are more effective methods like poison or a gun. I'll start shooting at them soon. In general, I tried mothballs, and mousetraps - nothing fits. There are still rats and they gnaw on wires and make noise at night in the garage. We must also be careful with all the poisons, because pets can eat them. Well, I have 2 dogs myself, so I need a repellent to get rid of rodents safely. I even know that there are those who emits a natural smell and refresh the entire area where it is located, but irritates the smell of rodents. I need to try and find such.

I have pets, so, poison isn't really an option.

Mice are EXTREMELY hard to hit with a gun.
