Default Transmission Swap Help

Hey y’all I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9. With a 46re Recently I noticed my truck shaking and the transmission getting stuck in second whenever there is a small hill or I get on it. After the incline my truck goes back to Normal. I have a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9 with a 46re I used as a part truck. I pulled the transmission out of it to put into my 1997. I wanted to make sure that they are compatible with the electronics. I will be switching my transfer case since that was rebuilt. I would like a list if everything I need to change in order for it to work. The transmission is rebuilt out of the 01 and I bought the whole truck for 300 bucks. I hear the governor needs to be switched or something. I searched around the internet for a while and found nothing use full. So a list of everything that needs to be changed will he’ll a lot. Thank you

97 electronics (including the harness) and valve body. I don't think it will work as the 01 transmission didn't have the VSS sensor (with the gear) on it. Unless it's mounted on the transfer case.

my 97 has the VSS on the transfer case. If I just swap valve body, transfer case and the sensors around the transmission I should be good to go right?

Yes my mistake you don't need the valve body just the governor pressure retainer as they changed styles.

Another problem you are going to have is, the shifter for the t-case mounts to the trans on the 97 and older trucks. It's likely the 01 trans won't have provisions for that..... as on the newer trucks, the shifter mounts to the body.......

what if I switch the shifter? Should that work? The hold for the shifters are in the same place.

The problem is the casing of the transmission and the shift patterns changed in 98.5 for 4wd
