Default Roof insulation?

I have the headliner out to recover it.
In an attempt to make life a bit easier for the A/C I’m going to add some insulation.
What are your thoughts; apply it to the roof, or the back of the headliner?
Roof application would help with sound deadening, but that’s not a concern for me.
Headliner application will be easier, and easier to do the cutouts.
What other pro’s/con’s do you see?

Gotta be careful how much you put in there.... as there just ain't a lotta space.

What were you thinking about using? Spray on? Or the fiberglass stuff?

Peel-n-stick sheet, like used for hood and firewall, but a thinner version.
I was thinking I would have to stop it short of the edge so the headliner still tucks under the door trim.
It does seem reasonably compressible, so it should pull up around the visor mounts, etc.

I would do the roof and then they make an insulation material for the back of headliners. A quick Google search should show it. It's like a thick foam

It’s nominally 6mm (1/4”) thick, but easily compresses to 1/16”.

I will... but I don’t know what real effect it will have considering most of the cab area being heated is glass.
I thought about wrapping the a/c ducting in insulation when I did the dash, as it takes a while for the hot ducting to cool and stop heating the air passing through it.

Would that really help though? I thought about that too as my dash is still out. I was going to buy the cheap no name brand (like $15 for 36sqft) and do it. I don't think it would help though, but I still might. I do know I helped a buddy add sound deadening around the blower motor and it made the motor really quiet.

I remember watching a video on YouTube and according to their testing 53% of a cat heating up was because of the roof and when they did what you and I want to do it cut the temperatures down about 15-20 degrees Fahrenheit
