Ok so at 45 it seemed to start to go in dropped about 100 rpm then came back up, an when I got on the freeway I was running 2500 rpm at 76 78 mph an my check engine came back on for tcc code again

Test resistance across the solenoid. See what ya get.

do I have to drop the trans pan do do this or is there another way?

Might be easier to pull the pan..... But, should be able to test across the pins in the connector on the trans side. (unplug it, then see if you can get enough light up there and a mirror, so you can see the pins......) There is a 12 volt power feed, and then the ground wire for the solenoid, pinout of the connector is in the service manual, check the pins, put your meter across 'em, and see what ya get.

What are the chances of it being the torque converter itself?

That's possible as well, not quite as common as a failed solenoid......

Ok, its pretty cold here in ohio an I dont have a garage trying to get the time an motivation to go test the selinoid lol

If you have a good scanner, it may tell you when/if the pcm is commanding tcc, and the tach will tell you if you are getting it or not.

If I did a temporary torque lockup switch an it still didn't engage wouldn't that tell me the selinoid is bad?
