Default bad alternator??

so i have a 2000 ram 1500 5.9 195,000 miles
i just had $900 worth of work done to it
new starter
new axle
new wheel joint

after i got my truck from the shop i noticed my battery wasn't charging at least that's whatt the gauges said so i drove it home 10 mineutes away and went to get new tires today and it broke down battery was dead had to jump the truck 13 times to get it to a parts store they couldn't check the alternator because of the low battery and the battery wasn't getting any charge (bad alternator)
so my question is
is there anything that they could have done that would cause my alternator to stop working?
i checked the wiring it looks good and all connections are tight replaced the battery terminals just in case they were bad
and iu checked the alternator fuse under the hood it looked good and still not holding a charge please help

I assume the new alternator is charging the battery, Even if it is you will have drive (keep it running) long enough to charge it fully. Put it on a charger until it's got a full charge. also how old is the battery? 5 years is about the lifespan of them.

i haven’t put the new alternator on yet I’m wondering if the garage could have done something to make the bad alternator go bad and my battery is 7 months old

Yeah I'm with HeyYou and am going to say a coincidence. You already said the visual and if not nothing looks disturbed then it's fine. Just happen to go bad after they did the work

All they would have done to the electrics would be to disconnect the negative cable. Beyond that, it was probably at the end of its service life.

Holy crap, get a new shop! And why in the world would you need a new axle?? They are screwing you. Happens all the time. Once you have paid for one job, suddenly something else needs work. Rinse and repeat.

A couple of weeks ago truck wouldn't start. Battery was dead. Threw in a new battery and it started. The next morning the new battery was dead (overhead map light switch). Jumped it, let it charge a few from the other car, then took the negative cable off and truck died. Onto a new alternator. Usually on older vehicles when the battery dies the alternator isn't too far behind or vice versa.
