The second generation Valiant is similar to the Dodge Dart. I've been looking for years to find a first generation Valiant like I drove in school.

Here's a little tidbit for the history geeks. Chevy guys brag about the 1957 Chevrolet's with fuel injection were the first car to have one horsepower per cubic inch. It was not. That was the 1956 Chrysler 300B with the optional high compression heads. (Fuel injection was an option on Chevies.)

I'd like to find a Valiant in the 1960-62 range. I'd love to find a '61 2 door post. I drove one in high school that had a heater as the only option. I found a '62 Valiant wagon and snapped it up as soon as I could get there but the tin worms had been busy and the torsion bars broke loose. I don't mind mechanical issues, I can't weld worth a durn so rust is a problem. I've posted in the classifieds here but the post goes to SOLD fairly quickly if there isn't any action.

Right now I'm debugging my truck. Depending on price (I'm on Social Security) I'll go anywhere in an area defined by St. Louis Mo, Indianapolis, Cincinnati Oh., and Nashville Tn.. Basically, I'm looking in an area up to 200 miles away. Once I have the truck lined out to my satisfaction, I might go farther afield. Rust is my major concern. The one I drove in school was fast becoming a rust buggy back then.
Another tid bit for everybody, the first car to have one horsepower per cubic inch was in 1957. Stock, the 1957 DeSoto Adventurer had 345 hp from a 345 cubic inch engine

Where are you located? I'm looking for a new project right now. The steering gear is the only major thing left on the truck. Other than that it's just getting it like I want. (Without the darned cats!!!)

That is right at 500 miles. Depending on finances, I could drive to look at one and make it a 2 day trip. I'd probably arrange for transport though. I don't like hauling ANYTHING through Ohio.
I'll send you the details when I get a chance
