Default Is my headlight/driving light switch messed up?

Hello all, I noticed when i turn the headlight switch to the parking light position and pull it out, the driving lights come on, but when i move from the parking light (driving lights on) position to the headlight position, the driving lights turn off? Is this the normal function or is there an issue with the switch? I would assume that they should stay on with the headlights?

Regards,

If they are the stock fogs, they should stay on with the low beams, and turn off when you switch to high beams.

They are the factory fog lights so i'll have to check that. Maybe my headlights are in high beam mode and the dash indicator light is burned out? I dont think i have tried the hi/lo switch yet, just assumed they were in low.

Thanks,

Thats what it was, i tried the hi/lo lever and the fogs came on (with the headlights) but i the indicator light is burned out or covered up behind the dash panel.

Thanks for the help!

I don't think I have ever seen one of the high beam indicator bulbs burn out... That's wild.

Then maybe there is something wrong with the switch assembly and its not making contact/sending the signal for the indicator to turn on?? I had planned on replacing it anyway because all the writing for the wipers is worn off and feels "loose" or worn when switching the hi/lo beams & turn signals.

Grab the service manual for your truck from here, if you don't already have one. (and no, haynes or chilton don't count. ) See where the indicator gets its power from, and see if its there. (might be an easy output from the switch....)

I wont have time to check it until this weekend but as long as the lights are working properly, it shouldnt be an issue. That manual will definitely come in handy. I downloaded and printed it out so i can have a physical copy to put in a binder. Thanks for the link!
On a side note, just in case anybody else runs into a bad micro bulb, the replacement part # is PC194
