Default Truck swap (1/2 ton to 1 ton)

I'm new to this forum but I've been wondering if I'd be able to take my 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 (5.2L V8, 4 speed automatic transmission, 4x4), would I be able to put the 8.3l cummins manual 4x4 dually, I think it would be an interesting project and would like to give it a try.
thanks for any feedback

The 8.3 engine weighs 1600 and change pounds. Just the motor will be over your gross weight rating for the front axle.

Yeah you would want to start with a 2500 or 3500 with spring for a snow plow.
