Has anyone used a Tremec TR-4050 in their 2nd Gen?

Looks like it might be a good option.

 

I like those gear ratios, do they have a 4x4 version that the transfer case will bolt to?

It’s distributed through Silver Sport Transmission out of Tennessee.

I’m guessing you need a bell housing off a 2500 (NV4500) to mount it, since the NV3500 has a built in bell housing.

I saw they have light truck (4x2) txmns with bell housings.

What does one of those run price wise that will bolt to a 5.9 and NP231 transfer case?

 

I asked for a quote on a turnkey kit to swap out my NV3500… I’ll let you know when I hear back.

 

So far the transmission itself is $3,195… I’m waiting on $$ for bell housing and any other parts.

Shipping to S Fla is around $350.

 

Update: I’m told the TR4050 is a direct bolt-up replacement for the NV4500 (within 1/2” on length).
If replacing an NV3500 you need to get a stock NV4500 bell housing and clutch.

This txmn is factory fit in Ram 2500 sold in Mexico.
