Default Transfer case/transmission question

So I found a nv3500 for my truck. 97 ram 1500 5.9 magnum. Extended cab short box. I have the previous components from the nv3500 out of my Dakota that I might need. Well the one I found is out of a 03 ram 1500. The transfer case is a 241, my truck has a 231d. Im wondering if the shafts are splined the same or if I would need to do an input shaft swap. I’m far from being able to do it but need to know if I have extra work ahead of combining the two or looking for a 241. I’d prefer to keep my transfer case as it’s held up to everything I need it to and the abuse I’ve done to it at time😅

The t-case on the 03 isn't going to have a provision for the VSS..... it went away in 98. I *think* though, that your t-case should bolt to the newer trans without issue. I think.

That said, an NV3500 behind a 5.9???? That ain't stock. So far as I know, the 3500 NEVER came factory behind a 5.9.

There was the option for it and the 2500 but the nv4500 was more popular in the 3/4 tons, which I plan on puting in at some point but I snagged one hell of a deal for the nv3500 so I won’t complain. I have everything pretty much from the one out of my Dakota, to do and input shaft swap if I need to for the splines to match if they unfortunately don’t. Thanks for your input on it it is appreciated, currently on the 6th auto and it’s acting like it’s gonna head out here soon

Please note those are both 5.2 engines, and the 2500 they are referring to there, was likely the light duty 2500, which was the 1500 with 8 lug wheels. Still D44 front axle, and Corp 9.25 rear.

The 8800 GVWR 2500 never came with a 5.2.
