Default Fire Repair Help

Hi guys and gals,

Yesterday for the first time ever I had a fire in my truck. I was driving the 94 Ram that my Granddad bought new and smoke starting pouring from the vents. I was pretty close to home, but by the time I got there, flaming drops of plastic were dropping on the passenger side carpeting.

I got the hose on it and managed to keep it from engulfing the whole truck before the fire department got here, but the interior is a total loss.

I'm really torn about whether to keep it or not. While it has a ton of sentimental value that I can never get back, realistically I don't know if I can ever get it back to how it was. Part of that decision comes down to if I can source a new interior. This is a standard cab Laramie SLT -- in red. I'm guessing finding a red interior will be impossible.

Can anyone tell me what year interiors will be direct replacements? From what I'm seeing, 95 and 96 appear identical but is that actually the case?

Any answers or thoughts are gratefully accepted.

Brian

94 to 97 I believe. In 98, a buncha stuff changed. Including the shape of the floor under the seats....

Be quick to get on top of bare/burnt metal areas to avoid corrosion.
Once it gets a hold it is harder to eliminate long term.

Did you determine what caused the fire? The red interior i believe was only one or two years. What is damaged to the point it can't be used? The dash i imagine will need to be replaced but what about the rest of the plastic items? If the plastics are still good they can be died to match the original color. Have any pics?
