Default Radiator swap

So this is a question on two different body style Rams for second generation

I have a 2001, 1500 with a 5.9 gas
And my father has a 1998, 3500 with the 24 valve Cummins turbo

Now my question is with the body styles as far as the engine compartment is concerned could a 3500 diesel radiator be put into a 1500 gas

The reason for me, asking, this is because my father needs to upgrade his radiator, which is not that old to one that is more high performance in cooling And my 1500 needs to be replaced because of a leak

Also, is there any recommendations for a much more higher efficient cooling option for 1998, 1524 valve Cummins

I think the diesels already got the largest radiator offered by dodge.... Not sure if there was a larger on available with the heavy duty cooling package.

Diesel radiator will bolt into the 1500, but, the inlet/outlet are sized different. (larger) so would require some variety of adapter.

If the diesel rad is anything like a V10 radiator will defo work in a V8 truck with simple modification.

- Reuse your V8 shroud. It will fit if you fab brackets to bolt it up to the larger rad. It's very simple, you just need to cut out some thick sheet metal and drill holes.
- Use silicone reducers to adapt your V8 hoses to fit the larger inlet/outlet. They are typically marketed for turbo intakes/intercoolers and are all metric.
- Relocate wiper fluid reservoir

Could you use the shroud that was originally bolted to the radiator? (along with the overflow, and washer fluid tanks, if necessary....) Or is fan location different?

I'd imagine on the Cummins the fan might be in a different spot or is a different size, just going off assumption here. I bet a V10 shroud would work.

Diesel radiator is same size more or less as V-10, direct bolt in. Inlet hose unlike V-10 is not the same place as V-8. No provision for auto trans cooler if that is an issue for you. Overflow and washer bottles different depending on years involved.

2500 diesel 4 core and 4 core with elerctric fan/shroud. Overall size, 45.7 W, 22.04 H, 5.51 T.
1500 5.9g Overall size, 43.5W x 24.21H x 6.3T stock radiator. Looks like it will fit with the 4 core.
