The machine work on the stock heads, especially in the deck, and combustion chamber area, makes me nervous. The stock heads were thin in those places to begin with, and milling them isn't going to improve things. Hogging the heads out to 78cc is going to drop compression ratio too......

Short block sounds good though.... think he would separate that from the heads, for a better price?

As far as his estimate of rwhp goes, thats complete & total BS
IMHO, thats a 300rwhp motor at best.(w/tb, F1, headers, 3" exh)
The old KRC lightning killer package was comprised of
KRC 220 cam (220/230 duro)
RT202 heads ported
M1/2bbl intake
Another member here (cant remember name/QC 4x2) put that kit in & went 30over & 10:1 compression
That setup dynod 320rwhp with much better cam, much better heads & an intake.
The kegger will make good torque but limit hp gains.

I'm with HeyYou, yet again. Those heads just aren't up to the task even if they weren't milled. I just can't see paying premium dollar for a modified factory head when there are superior alternatives readily available which aren't prone to dry cracking.

I wonder what on Earth ever possessed a guy to do all that work and then buy shorty headers for it. Gotta wonder how much thought went into it...

i came across this motor on craigslist too. he told me he would sell just the shortblock for 1k. i want to get iron ram 2.02 heads and an airgap for it. what do i NEED to make it run good? i initially won't have the money to buy every last peformance part in the book. im in need of a new motor and am interested in this. are there any special provisions regarding this motor?

52mm tb (thefastman.com) Hughes F1, EQ heads with some Harland Sharp 1.6rr (could add them later) & an SCT tune will have it running very good.
It will make very decent hp, just dont expect to see big cam 408 #s that he was quoting on CL
Ask the seller if the cam is installed straight up or advanced. Should be 4*advanced for best bottom end power.
