Default DEFROST AND AC PROBLEM

I have a 98 ram with a 318 in it. I havea problem with the dash vents switching to the defrost vents by themselves. A dealer told me I had a intake leak, but I think I would be showing some sort of code if this was true. Has any oneelse out there had this problem? If so what is the fix for it.
I am new here so if this a old question I am sorry but I have not been able to get any answers.
Thanks,
Matt

you do have a vacum leak on your intake that is the cause of your problems..it should be on your pass side just under the throttle cable

Actually, your vacuum leak could be coming from anywhere, not just the intake. Do a search on this forum for "vacuum leak". Lots of people have posted where they found their vacuum leaks.

if its a 4X4.. could be the vacume lines coming from the t-case to the CAD on the front axle.. mine were rotted out (steel hardlines).. dealer had prebent ones and replaced them.. bam.. all fixed!

Thanks for the input about the vacuum leaks. When I had it at the dealer they said there was no other leaks except the intake. I will find out this Friday I am taking it in to have the the intake fixed. After digging around here in posts here I think that probably is it. Now how long of a job is that? they said it will take all day. Will they replace the plenum gasket or should I request that they do this?
Thanks again for the help.
Matt
