Default Fastman Encouragement

OK, the fastman arrived today. I am not the most savy person with tools but plan to take a poke at it tomorrow. Dan's instructions seem easy - am I in for a rude awakening?

Also, does the s bolt that comes with Dan's kit work for the 14 x round air intake? I read through Silver's post but didn't see the answer.

Lastly, does anyone know if a 4 inch filter fits under the hood within the 14 inch round filter system?

Thanks.

Mike

The install is easy, just follow his instructions, and take your time. Make sure you reconnect everything you disconnect, and don't knock anything down into the intake either.

That s-bolt will work, if it is long enough for the filter assembly you get, but it is the right bend. Makes a good template too if you end up needing to make one that is longer.

Only way you will fit a 4" filter is with a body lift. 3" is the max, and that is a really really tight fit.

Just picked up the Edlebrock 14x3 and a push-in breather. Finishing my coffee and hitting it. Stay tuned.

I put my Mopar air cleaner on using the s bolt supplied by Dan, worked great with plenty of room to spare.

Question, Dan's instructions say to reset the PCM. If I do this, do I have to de-install my Hypertech tuning and/or reinstall it after the PCM reset? Thanks much.

It appears my 14x3 base needs to be lifted a little bit to ensure nothing filters in under the housing. Should I have purchsed some sort of rubber grummit? Thanks.

DUMB QUESTION BUT ARE YOU INSTALLING A THROTTLE BODY? THE REASON I ASK IS BECAUSE THAT'S ON MY LIST OF THINGS TO DO TO MY 98 1500 5.9L.

There should have been a rubber gasket on your TB from before. My Fastman also came with one. If not, you can get one at a parts store for very cheap.
