Check Engine light comes and goes...
Hey everyone, I'm brand new here and a brand new owner of a 1998 Dodge Ram 1500, 4x4, Shortbox, extended cab, 5.9L...anyway my check engine light randomly comes and goes. Any ideas? I did a search and I read the coil may be going, but wouldn't that cause the light to constantly be on? Thanks,
Sage

I am not sure if your Ram can do the,............ on-off-on-off-on.....key thing to retrieve trouble codes.
I loaned my manual to a fellow df'er and it's too late to call and have him email that page to me. Someone on here will post it, I would bet.
Good luck with your ride.

Mine does the same thing and when I check the code it tells me its an O2 sensor (both have been replaced). It has been doing it since I bought it with 52,000 on it and now I have104,000.

Check all of your ground connections. The most odd code can come from a dirty ground.

Thanks, I am not to worried about because it doesn't affect the performance of it..I just put a piece of electrical tape over it and don't see it!
