There is a cable inside that conects the handle to the latch i belive, im not sure what they are called but they break extremely easy. You just need to replace it and it will be fine.

OK, I've had the cable break before and also the screw that holds the cable to the door handle will also work loose. Hard to explain but before you go buy a new cable, take the panel off and look inside with a flashlight. Once you see how it works, it will be easy to trouble shoot and repair. Jeff.
