Default rearend noise

98 1500 4x2, the wife blew out the rearend and I got another one from a wrecking yard. I got a complete rear axle ***.(brake drum to brake drum). I put it in the truck and there is a whine at 30mph and up it stops when I let off the gas. Any ideas what it could be? thank you

Definitley a bearing whine, but which one?? Had the carrier go in mine, which took out all the bearings.
It cost me almost 2300.00 for parts and labour.

Sounds like your pinion shaft bearing is making noise.

I had to have the bearings redone in my dana 60 axle recently. It was $125 labour from a local drivtrain shop $400 total (Canadian $) it was whining at the same speed 50 kph and up. I figured I would fix it before it blew all to heck and it cost me a lot more.

Rear pinion bearing ... if it whined during coast it would be the front pinion bearing.
