I agree I had a no start problem because the dist cap was wet inside. Replace cap and rotor and the engine ran fine.

New cap and rotor has fixed this problem. Truck seems to be running smoother overall as well. Found the cap and rotor the other day and took a better look. Both in rough shape. I am going to take some photos for ref. I will post them in a day or two.

Do yourself a favor and listen to Turkeyhunter1962 and use the dielectric grease. Just go back with a Q-Tip and hit all the wire connections at the cap, plugs, and coil. Moments well spent!
Can't imagine why you would have replaced plug wires, coil, and plugs and not do the cap and rotor?????!!!

I did use some dielectric grease on all those points. I just did not want to tackle the location of that cap and rotor. It was a pain in the a$$ to reach! Also cap and rotor replacement should not be as frequent as plugs and wires, so I just did not think it was time. Guess I was wrong, but hey, I do not mind being wrong. I do appreciate all of the help that I have gotten on this forum!! Thanks again!

Default My 94 ram 1500 5.9 does the same.

My old dodge does the same way. Replaced the cap and rotor it fixed it for a bit but then started again. I just happened to check the bolts on the distributor cap and found that they were loose. I retighten them and it happened again in about 3 weeks. A little blue lock tite like you use on the screws for scope mounts on a gun did the trick. I also used dielectric grease and and gave the distributor cap and wires a good spraying of silicon just to be sure. I don't know if my threads on the distributor might be a little wore out or what but seeing as how they backed out more than once might be something for y'all to check. Hope this helps
P.S. I know the distributor and wires are hard to get to. I have a four-wheel drive with a 4-in lift on it also. I took the air breather box off of it put some cardboard across the motor and just basically laid across the motor. Use the mirror it is aggravating just make sure any vacuum lines are out of the way before laying across the motor the way I did.
