New 02 Sensors Now Check Engine Light
Well I just got done putting new 02 sensors in my 98 Ram 1500 360 and made it about 3-4 miles and the check engine light came on. It runs better with the new sensors but now the light is on. Any Ideas on what it could be? Is there a way to check codes or......? Thanks
I've tried that but it no worky. Do I turn it so all the lights come on but not start it, then off? Cuz, I've tried that too but everything lights up like normal and it just shows how many miles is on the truck.
Hmmm I have never done the trick personally because I dont have the digital readout. I had just always heard about it. In fact I was just told the other day about the trickon here because I am also currently having o2 sensor problems. Here is the link to it and in it he says how to. Which may or may not be the same way you are doing it.

Unplugged the battery for 30mins to reset the computer but the light still comes on when I get about a mile across town and on the highway. It's really starting to bug me. The light should have been on when the 02's were out but now that thier new the light comes on.
On some 98 and 99 models the code readout in digital odometer is disabled, I couldnt read codes on my 99 1500 either. Stop by an Autozone, Ive heard they read out codes for free!
When I did my engine swap I had purchased new O2 sensors to install at the same time. These were supposed to be direct replacements through Autozone. However, when I went to install them, they were the wrong ones. Maybe somehow you have the wrong sensors installed. If you still have the old sensors, get the numbers off them and take them back to the parts store to see if they match what they sold you.

It sounds like the O2 is bad or the connector isn't properly connected? Is it possible that you got the wrong one at the parts store? I have seen a few posts regarding the storescomputers listing4 O2's instead of 2 etc.WhenI bought mine the counter guy thought I had three so I just brought my old one in with me (pre cat). I'm sureyou compared the old and new onesbut I just thought I would ask.It makes perfect sense for it to take about a mile for it to warm up then throw a code if its bad. I believe tobba is right the codes need to be read bya scanner on 98 models.

I have the 13280 for after CAT and the 13100 for before cat. They have 5 different ones and my truck only has 2 so they just gave me the ones they thought it was.
