I took off the body kit today to save weight. Its about 50 lbs. At the time i didnt have any intentions on selling it, but if anyone wants it you can make an offer, i cant find the body kit, but it looks like lesser-semi-similar body kits are starting at 500. I would trade for an M1 intake too. My sig pic has the body kit. I honestly dont know what brand or whatever it is, but i think its dealer installed.

 

you pulled the body kit off to save 50 pounds? on a 5000+ pound truck? very pointless in my opinion. theresdozens of other spots to remove more weight.

do you have fading lines where the kit was now?

i just wanted to see how much it weighed. i agree its not all that pointful after seeing how much it does weigh, but i like the look of it without it.

There are no fade lines, just a few rub points that can be touched up with a small touchup brush.

it looks like rm indy's now...just not lowered.

 

I disagree. 50 lbs here, and 50 lbs there, and so on and so forth, it all adds up. He has the right idea.

 

Yea, but it was such a sharp truck. When you look back 10 years from now, you're not going to recall that it saved 50 pounds and gained .01 seconds in the 1/4. I liked how the body kit made it stand out. To each his own. Still is one bad truck that I'd hate to pull up next to!

the good thing is it was just bolted on to the frame and the pinch points on the bottom of the cab and bed. It would take about an hour to put it back on 10 years from now. (i just gotta go to home depot to get 2 or 3 bolts that i snapped due to rust.)

 

Did you get that truck new? When was the body kit put on and did you do it? What about the tonneau?

 

na, i got my indy about 6 months ago(actually the day before i joined DF). It came with the body kit and the tonneau. I removed the tonneau some time in march, but put it back on when i realised, im too pickey to let things fall in the bed of my truck. That thing hurt my back so bad when i put it on myself. It weighs an EASY 300 lbs. When it quits this april showers brings may flowers business im gonna take it off again and im going to start experimenting with easy removablelightweight (homemade) turbulance busters for the bed so that mpg wont be bad without the tonneau. The big thing that got me to remove the body kit was that i worked on a 98 conversion van at work that had pritty much the same kit, and the van smelled like a catbox...call me crazy, but now i associate that thing with a catbox, and its turnoffish for me now. (that van really really reaked)
