Default CAD unplugged on my front axle?

I didnt notice it before and when I originally bought it I assumed that it was all fine when I put the lever into 4wd. I read now that it doesnt work with out this CAD and the 4wd light should have come on. Any reason that someone would unplug it?

Help
Thanks
Harold

I'll do that sometime this week. Putting it in 4wd is done with the lever manually so this doesnt have any effect on it, right?

no it's still vacumn operated as well, just because the lever goes in doent mean its in 4wd

the only solinoid on the front axle is the central axle disconnect. an yes this will mean that ur 4 wheel drive wont work. the central axle disconnect acts just like hubs on older vehicles. so essentally the hubs on it are unlocked.

Should I be worried about why this was unplugged? Is unplugging it somekindofbypass in case the 4wd is not working? I only bought it recently and put the lever in 4wd to test it for noise but, just noticed the solenoid unlpugged yesterday.
Guess I should just plug it in and see what happens.

Just bumping this to the top to see if unplugging it would mask some kind of problem.

I decided not to just plug it in in case it was due to someone installing a new gear ratio in the rear but, not getting around to doing the front? I'll wait till I can get ti on a lift.
