Default setting current sync

ok i got a 97 ram 360 got a crane pawermax 2030, M1, fastman TB, intake, headers. i installed the distrib to dodge instructions, when i started it i rotated the distrib till it stopped pinging, then had to grind the tab off the hold down to rotate it farther to stop the pinging at load, then put the snap on modus on it to see the current sync and all it would tell is current sync OK i read that it should be 4 or something like that i dont know if the cam will change that or not, or if thats why i had to grind the hold down, also i have no chips or tuneing installed. and info would be great. Thanks

you want the sync set to 0 to +4......the cam wouldnt matter...now as far as the scanner there is a mode where you can actually see the setting of the cam sync you can watch it fluctuate so you can set it correctly....

also forgot to add the 2 screw tabs for the dist. capshould be at 9 and 3 o'clock roughly if they aint you might of set the distributor either 180 deg off or a few teeth off....on my timing chain when i lined the timing marks up the rotor pointed to #6 cyl instead of #1 now if i rotated the cam gear to 12 o clock and line the marks up with a straight edge then the rotor would point to #1....

i have a custom ground 210x cam from KRC Performance i had a hughes cam in here prior but now upgraded...

I sent my computer in to Tom Fox he is the original guy that programmed the Mopar performance computers for Mopar he Knows his stuff thats for sure....and the really nice thing is he charges a Flat fee of $350.00 for any kind of flash and will custom tune everything to your exact specs for your cam ect.....

Here is his# if you want it.... Home Office# 951-371-7420 and

Positive Performance Workshop# 714-639-5220

Main thing is where the oil drive gear lines up. This pretty much determines everything as far as timing in conjuction with fuel sync is concerned. What I have found is that if you index the cam sensor disk with respect to the rotor button, you can dial in fuel sync w/ any cam straight away. If you index the distributor base to the manifold or block and your new cam puts the gear slot off a few clicks from what it was, look for a drbiii or snapon. The sensor is in the base of the distributor, and picks w/ respect to the button. Ergo, if, when your sync is on, you use a plumb line or mark, or whatever to indicate where your rotor button should be with respect to your cam sensor plate in the bottom of your distributor, you can install any cam you want and never have to worry about a scanner. This is, of course, unless you install another pick-up plate (cam sensor)

yah i used some white out on my cam sensor plate wnd when i reinstalled the distirutor i was dead on using the mark i made..the sync was real close was at -2....just had top bump it back to +4 but it was real close though...i think when i installed the hughes cam we were way off on the sync using the block/ditributor housing reference...

My Hughes was a regrind from a factory core so everything lined up dead nuts. The Comp (KRC) was a new core so the drive slot ended up a little off from what it was. This is where the cam sensor reference markcame in handy. How do you like the 210x compared to the Hughes? I was running the Hughes 1828 and it was a pig down low. Night and Day difference with the 210x in there.

Make sure when you get injectors you look at the psi for the flow rating. Mostly, the industry standard is 42.5psi. OBDII Rams run 49psi
24lb/hr @ 42.5psi will give you 25.44 @ 49psi.

The Ford injector ratings are with respect to 39.5psi
FMS 24 @ 39.5 will give you 26.73 @ 49psi wich may cause you a/f ratioproblems

I just switched from the Accel 24'sto the Accel 23's wich run at ~24.5 @ 49psi. Helped low end tremendously and I am running 12-13:1 at wot. Lt idle trims are ~ -16.

Per Mopar performance- Factory injectors are 23.2 lb/hr @ 49 psi
