RE: forward then reverse burn out
omg yesm its going to destroy your gears in the rear end eventually, its prob. def. scored already., if you open the rear end housing there are prob metal shaving in the bottom that need to be taken out and cleaned up, and clean then housing then reseal the hosing with rtv and put it back and refill it with lube.

RE: forward then reverse burn out
are you asking if it hurts anything? from like a stand still in drive then punch the gas and burn the tires? i don't think it will hurt anything, but it won't last as long as it would if you took it easy obviously. But driving forward then slamming it into reverse while you are still moving foward and punching the gas is very hard on you trans and rear end....but froma stand still and then punching the gas??? i don't think it hurts it all that much...just don't do it all the damn time

lol you know the trannys in these things go even if you aren't attempting to destory it dude...
If you really wanna smoke your tires in an auto tranny just hold the brake in with your left foot and smash the gas get it up about 3 or 4 grand and let it out. Or get lower gears. But its probably cheaper to buy one ton axels with the different gears already in them. It's a good ideaif you like to beat on it.

RE: forward then reverse burn out
The 46/47 series of automatic transmissions
which are descendants of the 727 design
all have the potential to be damaged by a
'Burnout' in 1st gear
if the 'overrunning clutch' (also called the sprag)
is over stressed and explodes.
This happens if the tire is slipping rapidly and then
suddenly gains traction again.
Bottom Line: everytime you do a burnout with your 46/47 automatic
put $100 in an envelope to pay for the coming transmission rebuild.
