Ok well i got the truck up on the lift the other day at my school to see whats up with the 4 wheel drive..well the front driveshaft psins,but the u-joints in the front arent spinnig..so i am guessing the front axles arent engaging..now i came along this part while i was under my truck and my friend said this most likely is the cause..could anyone tell me then name of the part..and how hard it will be to replace?? thanks

Its a vacuum problem, no need to replace the CAD unit. With a loss of vacuum the CAd can't function and doesn't engege the front end.

Trace all the vacuum lines and see where its broke. Just be careful, they're probably VERY fragile.

there is also vacuum lines on top of your tcase that you should check as well...the 2 vacuum lines run across your frame across the crossmember and to the top of your t case

Happened to me, it passes right next to my cat *go figure* burnned right throught it. Just cut where it has been damaged and place some really tighting fitting hose, thats what i did.

If you are in 4wheel drive all the time, ck the vaccum hose next to the exhaust manifold on the driver side.The plastic tubing melts from the heat over time. So because you lost vaccum, the vaccum switch defaults to 4wheel drive.

I forgot to mention that the 4x4 light wont come on either...could a vaccum issue cause this?

Go to posi lock.com and buy a cable and throw the vacuum unit somewhere far far away! After replacing 2 of the vacuum units thats what I did and i've never had a problem since.As a side note if you install the cable then put a locker in the front you can gofull timeon the locker and just use the cable to engage both front tires!

nope youll get the cable and a new housing to bolt right onto your axle .you will need to take the fork out of your old casing which is held in with c clips.I was very satisfied with mine and I know the front is locked.
