Default 00 ram 1500 sport bumper trouble

So i have a 2000 ram 1500 SPORT, the kid who had it befor me offroaded the crap outa this truck so he somehow got the front bumper with a huge dent in it thats permanent and punched holes in it with the screws behind the bumper. Im thinking of replacing it with a heavy duty steel front bumper, only problem im having is the cheapest one i found its like 1300 bucks thats like 1000 bucks more than ide like to spend, not to mention none of the ones i found will fit the sport. anybody have any idea where i can A) find one of these bumper for decent price to fit the sport or B) know where i can find plans for this bumper and fab it up myself. Other option im looking at is just replacing it with stock bumper, problem with replacing the oem bumper is the bumper support for behind the bumper is rusted away and whats left is bent. or maybe chrome but again cant find for the sport just non sport.

taz define heavy duty steel bumper, like an offroad bumper that would hold lights/winch or just OEM replacement?

if the 98 bumper is not a sport then your grill would get in the way if you wanter to close your hood. grille gaurds are hard to come by if you have a sport, however if you get a full replacement bumper it should fit......maybe lol

I've run into this same problem, I like the grille on the sport but there is no aftermarket bumper made for them that ive found, the only conclusion ive come to is making your own... probly a dumb question, but howd a 3rd gen OEM bumper work on a sport? its a long shot but ive always wondered about it..

I used a non sport grille guard, jus the sport bumper hangs lower than the non sport so i had to cut a couple notches in it at the bottom for it to work, not everyone wants to cut into their bumper tho, lol

Another option is to buy whatever bumper you like, and if you want to keep the sport grill, cut the part of the bumper that contacts the grill away, allowing it to clear. i dont know how this would look... but its an option. personally i dont like the stock "fat lip" plastic sport bumpers...
