Default scraping noise - bushings?

this is a multi part post....

first and foremost, my 99 Ram Sport 1500 4x4 started making a scraping/grinding noise yesterday when i make a right hand turn. it is definitely coming from the front right suspension.... the truck has to be in motion for the noise to occur.

new brakes on all 4 corners and i just greased the chassis 2 or 3 weeks ago including the u-joints...

my friend and i were lookin it over and we noticed that the sway bar bushings have seen better days. there is some motion when we bounced the truck and it makes some noise...

could this be the source of the noise?

when i got home today, i put the front up on jackstands, turned the wheels to the right and spun the front right... no noise so im thinking there has to be weight on it to make the noise...

regardless of if it is the problem or not, i am going to replace the sway bar bushings with urethane ones... energy suspension has 2 part numbers listed, one for 30mm and one for 32mm.... which ones do i need?

thanks for any and all help you can give me.

dose the scraping sound sound like metal on metal? the last time i herd a scraping noise from my front of my toyota, my wheel barrings went out and i mean relly went bye bye when i took the hub apart most the barings fell out onto the ground, i hade to replace the hole hub i couldnt get the houseing for the barings out not even a press whould do it [:@]! so check that since yours is a 4x4 that might be the problem or it could be the bushings

it is a metal on metal sound but not so much a scraping as a grinding... and only when im going right... not even when im going backwards with the wheel turned to the right...

last nite i put it up on jackstands and spun the wheel but no noise which leads me to believe its a part that stresses in some way under the weight of the truck....

I would take a chance and check the wheel bearings...especially with a grinding sound. If it was a creeking sound or rattle I would suspect the bushings. Have the wheel bearing every been changed or serviced?

well sping the tire dosnt relly work, what you gotta do is grab the tire at the top and bottom and see if it rocks back and forth, a little play is ok but you will knowtice if somethings wrong alot of movement isnt good. my toyota when it stared the scraping sound it would only happen when i was turning left and when i was comeing to a stop i htought it was my brakes or something with the supention, and i wish it was @ the time becosue a new hub cost me around 300 bucks and i hade to get new barings for the hub ect... so just check it out befor it gets worse if youw ant pm me on yahoo messenger @ centralvally606@sbcglobal.net or msn messenger @ importcowboys@msn.com

yeah, i gave it some hell last nite, it didnt seem to have an abnormal play... im gonna replace the bushings first, once i find out what size they are... if the noise keeps goin, im gonna have to start tearin into it deeper...

From experience with my 94 4x4, it sounds like the hubs! I have had terrible luck with mine! I have replaced the passenger side twice and the driver side once since i bought the truck three years ago! I'm guessing you hear it only when you turn right, or make a gradual right turn? Exactly what mine did. Make sure you get a big crafstman breakover bar and a big socket(1 11/16 if i'm not mistaken, could be though). Call around to some autoparts stores and describe your problem. They should agree. Let me know what you find out.
