$59 CAI
how is this not a cai? it has an air box it draws cold air from the hole in the fender from the origional factory setup goes through a filter a tube and into the tb. If this does not qualify then please explain what a cai is.
you posted some great info
i have fewquestions if you don't mind
1did you have to drill into the fender to mount the shield?
2 what were the additional pieces parts you bought at lowes?
3 how does it run when the motor is hot, i have heard of sluggish performance at lower speeds w/cai's
thanks
been looking into adding a cai to my ram but didn't want to spend the bucks on a k&n job, i have the k&n drop in filter.

1. no drilling there is a plastic rivet you need to punch out but it comes with a new nylok bolt to replace it you will need a buddy to help you on that part. there was a threaded hole for the forward bolt already in the fender.
2.I bought the round foam tubing that is split half way through just to seal up around the pipe where it comes into the air box and some more for the gaps left over. the rubber seal they provide is about an inch short on each end and there a a few other places it has gaps in.
3.Yesterday was by far the hottest day so far it was 99* and to be honest it did feel some what sluggish. Did not seem to affect mpg though as when I filled it I was at 17.8mpg. I should mention I was running my a/c full tilt and havnt runn it much before. The humidity was around 98% also.

Doesn't aCAI draw air from the front of the truck before it gets heated by the truck?
K&N setups for the dodge do not draw from the front it is very similar to this setup. They advertise as a cai. To answer your question the stock setup is a less efficient cai(I think) either way this set up allows air to move more freely.
What'd you all do with the "hole" that is on the tube that runs from the cleaner to the TB? I'm assuming it is for the breather line, but there is no way my line is going to stretch that far. I already have a stand alone breater, so I think I'm just going to plug the hole, just wondering what ya'll did about it.
