Got the truck back tonight. Yeeehaaaw! Sounds like I got a tweeked out mopar monsterunder the hood.
It's quiet when cruising along at any speed but crackles like a early 60s muscle car when you squeeze the throttle.
I saw the converter that they cut out, it was shot. It was still in one piece but loose, which means at any time it would have broken up. I found the truck to be more responsive and little gas peddle to keep it at 80kph ( 50mph).
Next week I'll be towing the trailer I know more thenabout fuel mileage and power.
Cheers Kayakman

Well i just got back from camping. I'm not sure if the magnaflow muffler could make that much difference but I got a real world mileage of 22 imperial miles to the gallon. This would be combinationrural roads 90 kph (55) that were hilly to small towns and 110 kph (70 mph). If any of you guys know Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, they're hilly. I took a route from Amherst Shore Provinical Park - to Joggins - to Parsbrow- back to Amherst (one day) Amherst shore p/p- Port Elgin - to Shediac - Moncton - and back to the park.
14imperail miles per gallon while towing a 5000 lb. fifth wheel camping trailer.
The only thing when towing the muffler is loud at 90kph- 55mph when towing.
This is about 3 more mpg when towing and about 4+ more mpg when solo.

Just a quick update. Was in Charlottetown, PEI this weekend. At a stop light a new gen 3 ram 4 door. I knew it was a drag race. The other oncoming lane had a flashing green left arrow and I knew there would be a couple that would go thru the red light.
When our light turned green, I hit-it[sm=gears.gif] and the race was on, i in the outside lane had clear runnin' the gen-3 ram still had a car in it's way, so I got the run on him.
At the next light he rolls slowly up beside our truck and the mrs. rolls the window down. He says, "HOW IN THE HECK DID YOU GET YOUR TRUCK TO SOUND SO GOOD". We laughed.
It's just a S/S Magnaflow muffler.
If I can some time I'll get my son to help me do a sound clip.
Cheers kayakman

Hi atcsat64
Drove back from Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia via the Cobequid Pass and back home near Halifax averaging 70+ mph. These roads are hilly and I got 19.08 mpg. (16.22 US mpg.).
That is with approx. 200+ lbs. in the box and 3 peopleand their luggage in the cab.

A mile is a mileand a kilometer is a kilometer.
mile = 5280 feet
mile = 1.609 kilometers.
But a us gal = 3.87 liters
An imperial gallon = 4.54 liters - thus the difference in miles per gallon
In Canada all new vehicles are rated in liters/100 kilometers.
