Transmission questions
I lost over drive in my ram, then reverse went out right afterwards. Sent it in to get it fixed and they said it went because it got hot and loss of lubrication. They said the cooler must be plugged. He said they had a bulletin on chrysler having problems with these lines. Something with the bypass line or somethin. He was gonna send my dad's shop the bulletin on it. Has anyone else run into this? How did you fix your lines, or just get new ones or what? The guy said chrylser had troubles with these lines but can't remember exactly what the bulletin said. Any suggestions?
stock dodge ram trans are crap, (flame me i don't care) and its the most common problem in this forum. a heavy duty rebuild with common aftermarket parts will likely fix you up for life (if done right - so BE SURE and get a lifetime warranty !!!!!, even if you have to pay for it !!!!!!!) you'll likely need new everything incl torque converter and cooler flush. there is a check valve on the return line, right at the front of the engine, right at the frame rail which should be removed as its probably full of metal chips/sludge. while your doing all this you might want to put on an additional cooler and maybe an external filter.
heat is the enemy - the cooler you keep it the longer it will last.. if you have the towing package, then you already have an external cooler. otherwise you just have the little cooler built into the radiator. you can add a external cooler for < $100.

Besides another cooler I'm still trying to figure out how to fix this problem. Until I get the bulletin I can't explain what happened. I guess when I sent the transmission in they eliminated the bypass line because of the problem. They said i'm going to have to go with new lines, just not sure how to modify mine to work.

I couldn't take it off the line cuz it's all fitted. I'm just going to make a whole new line for right there. Does anyone have a diagram of the cooler, lines, and transmission. Like how they run and are hooked up?
