Default Leaking Transfercase. Which one do I have?

2001 Dodge Ram, Quadcab, 4x4, 5.9.

The tag says NV231 D.

Looking in the dodge manual I have it lists a 231hd an 241ld and a 241hd. I don't see an h betwen the 1 and the d. Is that the one I have? Also it is leaking on the input shaft seal. Is it a lip seal or a gasket? Parts places around here say there are 3 seals, input, output, and oil pump seal for the transfercase. Is there a seal kit formyTransfercase that has everythingI need to reseal it?

Thanks

Is the transfer case still in the truck?

Then how can you tell the input shaft is leaking? Is the tranny a 46RE or a stick?

The transmission is an Automatic. I washed underneath and dove it home. Crawled under it and where the tcase bolts to the tcase adapter on the rear of the transmission there is fluid. So I assumed it was the input seal on the Tcase. Is it something else?

The most common problem in the seal on the tranny side.It always leaks through that smallweep hole. There is no gasket where they bolt together. We alwaysseal the tranfer case side too if we take it apart.

Is that a hard seal to replace? Do I have to pull the tranny or the trany shaft to install it?

Pull the transfer case and the seal is visible at the tranny end.I use a seal installer, but if you're careful you can knock it in will the handle end of a plastic mallet(seal will sit flush).A light coating of RTV on the seal will aid in installation and outer sealing.

Cool deal. So I need a rear tranny seal, a Transfercase input seal and I am good to go. Or do you go ahead and replace the output on the transfercase seals?
