Default Cap and Rotor Question?

i bought a cap and rotor now when i switched them out i had a one on my cap and rotor is that where the 1st cylinders wire should be hooked up
because i went in firing order from that 1.

like 18436572 but the 1 is my first wire correct, or am i wrong
it idles great but when i drive it seems to surge and i smell unburned fuel from the exhaust
i am just seeing if there are any suggestions and if they dont work
then off to the mechanics the truck goes.

You didn't put the cap on 180° out did you?
Did you push all the wires down on the cap well?

what does 180 degrees out mean ? and how do i do that ?

i put it on the same way it came off and yeah i checked and rechecked wire routes and if all wires were on the cap all the way
and also made sure they were all on the plugs also

this morning i took the TB completely off and cleaned it up
i also replaced the IAC is there a certain way that you set that ?
i unhooked the battery and let it reset the computer (PCM) thats it.

anything else i need too do ?

the 1 on the cap should be towards the passenger side ...if you have it on the driverside it is 180 out...

MAYBE you just have a bad plug or wire some where, or one of the wires is not clipped down all the way.
dont forget the coil wire too. maybe your coil is going out...

That's it, but like TD says it only goes on one way. I don't know this from experience, but this distributor should be the same as others as far as caps going on it.
